Cuba

According to research findings, the city of Cuba was named in the 7th century by Arab tribes who lived in a city of the same name near Medina. From the mid-18th century, Cuba became the capital of a khanate located in the territory of modern Azerbaijan and Dagestan. The Cuba khanate endured until the early 19th century. The city of Cuba is a center of the weaving industry, particularly famous for its “Golu-chichi” carpets. One of these carpets, woven in 1712, is now on display at the Metropolitan Museum in New York.
