Tiflis. Kavkaz hotel

The “Kavkaz” hotel was opened in 1858 and was located on Erivan Square (now Liberty Square), next to the headquarters of the Caucasian troops.

The hotel was considered one of the best in the city — room rates ranged from 1 to 7 rubles.

It was owned by I. Korchilava and N. Sikharulidze.

In 1872, oil magnate and one of the wealthiest people in the Russian Empire, Alexander Ivanovich Mantashev (1842–1911), opened two fabric shops on the hotel’s ground floor.

There was a tobacco shop beneath the hotel, owned by an Armenian named Artashes Ambartsumovich Enfiadjianz.

The “Kavkaz” hotel operated until 1917.

The building burned down in the 1990s.
