Sukhumi. Baskakov country house

Baskakov’s dacha is located at the foot of Trapezia Mountain on Podgornoye Highway (now Dzidzaria street) in the city of Sukhumi.

At the end of the XIX century this plot of land was acquired by Vilhelmina Adolfovna Dunder, who, by 1898, had built a two-story mansion with several balconies and a protruding porch in the Russian style.

She also created an English style garden around the mansion.

In 1909 Vilhelmina Adolfovna sold the property to Ivan Ivanovich and Anna Ivanovna Baskakov, who continued to develop the garden.

During Soviet rule, the garden and dacha were nationalized, and until 1991, the site housed the Palace of Pioneers and schoolchildren.
