Nearby is the town of Borjomi, known for its waters. Villa is an example of Mauritian architecture. For the illumination of the Likani Palace, the a hydroelectric power plant was built in 1898 – the first in the Russian Empire. During the times of the Soviet Union, many of the ruling elite rested here, including Joseph Stalin. After 1991, the palace became a summer residence of the President of Georgia, and since 2016 works as a museum.
