The Palace of Prince Alexander of Oldenburg is an Art Nouveau-style palace located in old Gagra.
Like many of the early buildings in the city of Gagra, the palace was constructed under the direction of the architect Grigory Ippolitovich Lutsedarsky from St. Petersburg.
The complex of buildings was constructed in stages between 1901 and 1904.
The palace itself was the first to be built, featuring a circular panoramic window in the prince’s study and a chimney, which has been preserved to this day.
Next, the hotel section was added to accommodate members of the royal family and the high nobility of the Russian Empire.
Later, a wing with a falconry tower was built.
The palace was equipped with the latest technological advancements of the time, including an elevator and electric lighting, powered by a hydroelectric station on the Zhoekvara River
