Milky waterfall

The Milky waterfall is located near Lake Ritsa in the northwest of Abkhazia.

The waterfall owes its name to the characteristic shade of its water.

Several legends are associated with the waterfall.

One legend tells of a poor family who once lived near the waterfall and had a daughter.

Unfortunately, the Creator did not bless her with beauty, and no one wanted to marry her.

Her friends suggested that she wash her face with milk every day, but for the poor family, this was an unaffordable luxury.

The girl began going to the Milky waterfall and washing her face with its waters.

Before long, she became beautiful.

Soon, a handsome young man came to the village.

Enchanted by the lovely girl, he married her and they lived happily ever after.
