Manglisi. Algetka near cave

The Algeti is a mountain river in eastern Georgia, a left tributary of the Kura.

The name of the river comes from the Armenian expression “Al get”, meaning “salty river.”

The Algeti originates on the slopes of the Trialeti Range, its length is about 110 kilometers.

The source of the Algeti River is closely associated with the Trialeti culture (III millennium BCE), one of the most highly developed cultures in the Transcaucasus.

Stone tools (from the Late Neolithic and Early Bronze Age), fragments of handmade pottery, and traces of hearths have been discovered here.
