Borjomi. Borjomi station. Park

The railway reached Borjomi in 1894, following the completion of the Khashuri–Borjomi section.

Until then, transportation was carried out exclusively by horse-drawn vehicles — a journey from Tbilisi to Borjomi in a horse-drawn phaeton took 8–9 hours.

The first Borjomi station was located on the site of today’s “Borjomi Freight” station, two kilometers from the current passenger terminal.

This is now the terminus of the Borjomi–Bakuriani narrow-gauge railway.

In 1902, when the railway was extended to the center of Borjomi, the station “moved” to the right bank of the Kura River (now Erekle street).

The second city station of Borjomi operated until the mid of XX century.

The current station is located on the grounds of the former Remmert Park and has been in use since 1951.
