The Aragvi river is one of the largest rivers in Georgia.
ts name translates from Georgian as “fast”.
Aragvi river has two sources.
The White Aragvi originates in the Mtiuleti region in northeastern Georgia.
It flows over clay shale and limestone, which give the water a whitish tint.
The Black Aragvi begins in Gudamakari, also in northeastern Georgia, in the foothills of the Greater Caucasus range.
This river gets its color from black shales.
Near the village of Pasanauri, two rivers merges to Aragvi.
When the rivers meet, they initially flow side by side like two parallel streams, without mixing.
This happens due to the temperature difference between the waters of the Black and White Aragvi, which creates surface tension.
